School and Preschool Loans Scheme

The State Government is extending and expanding the low interest loans scheme by making available $171 million for low interest loans of up to 15 years duration.

Non-government schools, not-for-profit early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers and associated system authorities can apply for low-interest loans to build new schools, campuses or ECEC centres, or to upgrade existing schools or ECEC centres.

Loan amounts between $500,000 and $10 million per eligible entity are available.

Priority will be given to infrastructure projects that support:

The scheme will improve the education outcomes by ensuring more South Australian students have access to contemporary learning facilities and assisting the State Government’s commitment to deliver universal 3-year-old preschool.

The scheme is not available to refinance existing debt, including loans approved under the State Government’s previous loans scheme. In some circumstances debt refinancing may be approved by the Treasurer of South Australia if it will facilitate a new infrastructure project which meets the criteria.

Round four has now closed.
